Arizona mines more copper than any other state, thus the copper colored star in the center of the flag.
The thirteen red and gold rays stand for the first thirteen states and the colors are both symbolic of the sun setting over the desert as well as representing the colors of the first settlers from Spain. The dark blue stands for loyalty to the United States.
